If a picture is worth a thousand words, these are worth a million! Profusely illustrated with lively, but sparse, text, this volume would appeal greatly to a visual learner. The cutaway diagrams, maps and timeline features are very helpful. Like the first editionKingfisher Illustrated History of the World, most pages incorporate a timeline of events during the period covered on the page-spread. A bottom of the page timeline shows in shaded color the period covered. Medieval World goes from 500 AD to 1500, beginning with the destruction of the Roman Empire and ending with the birth of the Renaissance. Very attractive overviews that your children will read for fun (and pick up a lot of history along the way).
