Teaching American History Through Art

Great works of art in American history are included with lessons on American arts and crafts. Gilbert Stuart, Edward Hicks, Sandpainting, Pioneer Dolls, Mapmaking, Currier and Ives, pictures from early American newspapers depicting historical events and much more. An art project follows each lesson. There are pictures from old Harper's Weekly magazines and papers from a century ago depicting things that occurred and then projects following. There are also pictures from the Boston Museum of Fine Arts Collection. This book is an excellent supplement to an American history text. A timeline and timeline test are included.
